    Dear School Community,

    As a reminder, we are excited to announce the launch of our new Massapequa School District website and app, going live on January 30th! At this time, we invite you to watch a preview, including how to set notification preferences, of our new school district app on our district YouTube Channel located at www.youtube.com/massapequaps.

    Here are some highlights of our new app:

    • Our new app will be available on January 30th in both the Apple and Google Play stores – Search for “Massapequa School District”
      • The app was developed with input from stakeholders
    • App preferences (Settings)
      • Set notifications and subscriptions to district, school(s) and/or community groups
    • District, Schools, and Community Selection Feature
      • Toggle between the district, school(s), and community groups

      • Please note, staff and parents will still receive emails with district and school messages and text messages for emergencies

    Dear School Community,

    We are excited to announce the launch of our new Massapequa School District website and app, going live on January 30th! We have been committed to providing you information about this transition through communications and detailed updates on our current website. The process started last school year with your input, a target group of parents and educators, and ongoing collaboration! 

    Please mark your calendar for January 30th! On this day, we will be launching our newly designed district website and app.

    What do you need to know for January 30th?

    • Website: Our Massapequa School District website will still be located at www.msd.k12.ny.us The newly designed website will have detailed Board of Education, District, Departments, Academic, Athletic, and Community information. The website will also include updated district and school communications, spotlight/news, events/calendars, and lunch menus.
    • App: Our Massapequa School District App will be available for both iOS and Android. The new App will have district, school, and community communications. The app will also include spotlight/news, events/calendars and lunch menus. In the Spring of 2025, the app will have a new teacher/parent communication feature.
    • Additional Information: 
      • Parents/Guardians: The Massapequa School District will continue to email all district and school communications. In addition, the district will continue to send text messages for emergencies.
      • Community Members and Organizations: The Massapequa School District will post all community and organization communications in the “Community” section of the website and app. 

    We will send more information about our new website and app prior to the launch date on January 30th.

    January 8, 2025

    At this time, we are completing our leadership, web liaison, and clerical training. Our tentative timeline for implementation is as follows:

    • 1/9: BOE Community Presentation, 1/13: PTA Meeting, 3/12: SEPTA Meeting

    • 1/15: Community Notification: 

      • Including: New Website, New App, Video Navigating the Website, Video Navigating the App, Support

    • 1/30: New Website/App Live Date! 

    • Spring, 2025: “Rooms” Parent/Teacher Communication Feature will be launched

    December 10, 2024 (Update)

    At this time, our leadership team is checking the content on our new website/app and providing additional input. In addition, we scheduled leadership, clerical, and web liaison training in early January for communications and website/app updates. We will continue to keep the community informed throughout the implementation process.

    November 22, 2024 (Update - Timeline)

    We are continuing with the development of our new website and app with input from all stakeholders. Currently, we are still in the development phase, which includes custom platform/design, staff/student integration, mobile applications, and complete setup. We continue to schedule multiple meetings each week with Apptegy and our MSD team. This week, we presented our tentative timeline and draft website/app to our leadership team. This is our current tentative timeline:

    • November/December: Leadership - Website/app and webpage review with feedback

    • December/January: District/Building Leadership, Clerical, and Web Liaison - Communications training

    • December/January: Web Liaison - Website and Spotlight training

    • January/February: Website and app launch with stakeholder feedback (Rooms - Teacher/Parent 2-way communication feature not available until Spring) 

      • 1/9 - BOE Public Session: Preview of website and app to our school community

    • February/March: Teachers - Rooms training

    • March/April: Launch Rooms for Teachers and Parents

    We will continue to keep the community informed throughout the implementation process.

  • November 1, 2024 (Update)

    We are continuing the development of our new website and app with input from all stakeholders. Currently, we are still in the website/app development phase, which includes custom platform/design, staff/student integration, mobile applications, and complete setup. We have been scheduling multiple meetings each week with Apptegy and our MSD team. Following this, we will complete our training phase, pre-launch phase, and launch phase. After launching our new website and app, we will begin implementing “Rooms,” the teacher/parent communication feature. We will continue to keep the community informed throughout the implementation process.

  • September 18, 2024 (Update)

    We are continuing to develop our new website and app with input/data from all stakeholders. At this time, we completed our Consultation phase (Trademarks, Apple Development, Logos/Graphics, Tentative Designs), and our Development phase is in progress (Custom Platform/Design, Staff/Student Integration, Mobile Applications, Complete Setup). After, we will complete our Training phase, Pre-Launch phase, and Launch phase. After we launch our new website and app, we will start our “Rooms” implementation, which is the teacher/parent communication feature.

    We also shared a tentative logo and web/app design with our leadership and web liaison teams for additional input.

    We will continue to keep the community informed throughout the implementation process. 

  • September 3, 2024 (Technology Information Email)

    As recently shared, last school year our school district created a target group of parents, teachers/staff, and leadership to make a recommendation for a new unified communication system. After reviewing input from all stakeholders and exploring different platforms, we are excited to announce that the target group made a recommendation for the school district to transition to Apptegy. Our new unified communications app will be branded as the “Massapequa School District” App. The system includes a new website, iOS/Android App, communication methods, social media posting, and one/two way messaging for parents and teachers. We are starting to plan for our transition and will share additional information after the start of the school year!

  • August, 2024 (Apptegy Website/App Update)

    We are in the process of using the website development survey input from our community/parents and staff to develop our website/app with Apptegy.

  • June 21, 2024 (New Communications Platform/Website/App Email)

    Dear MSD School Community,

    As recently shared, our school district created a target group of parents, teachers/staff, and leadership to make a recommendation for a new unified communication system to implement after the start of the new 2024-25 school year. The target group reviewed input from parents, teachers/staff, and school districts. In addition, the target group created review criteria for the new system, which included: Ease of Use, Onboarding/PD/Training, Customization, Communication Methods, and Security/Safety.

    After reviewing different systems, we are excited to announce that the target group made a recommendation for the school district to transition to Apptegy. This new unified communications app will be branded as the “Massapequa School District” App. The system includes a new website, iOS/Android App, communication methods, social media posting, and one/two way messaging for parents and teachers.

    We are starting to plan for our transition and will share additional information after the start of the new 2024-25 school year!

    Dear Leadership, Instructional/Technology Staff, and Parents,

    At this time, you have been selected to participate in our MSD Communication Platform task group. Thank you for your interest! The goal of this task group is to explore two different unified communication platforms, Apptegy and ParentSquare, that include a website platform, mass notifications, and classroom communications for our school district/buildings, departments, teachers, and parents. Afterwards, the target group will make a platform recommendation to implement after the start of the 2024-25 school year.

  • May 15, 2024 (Parent/Guardian Survey and Information Email)

    Dear Parents/Guardians and Community,

    We were recently informed that our district website platform located at www.msd.k12.ny.us will no longer be available after next school year. This is a great opportunity for our school district to explore a new unified district communication system that would include a website platform, mass notifications, and classroom communications for our school district/buildings, departments, teachers, and parents!

    To help with this work, we will be creating a MSD Communication Platform Target Group this school year with leadership, teachers, staff, and parents to explore two systems - Apptegy and ParentSquare. We will be working with our PTA to ask for parent volunteers to be part of this group. Afterwards, the target group will make a system recommendation to implement after the start of the 2024-25 school year.
